Comedy Central has ordered 14 episodes of "Distraction," a British game show format that mixes trivia, comedy and, naturally, maggots and body piercing.

The U.K. original has become a success on England's Channel 4 and Comedy Central is recruiting the show's host Jimmy Carr to present the domestic version. The comic is familiar to some American viewers from appearances on "The Night Show" and "Late Night with Conan O'Brien." He also headlined at major comedy festivals in Montreal and Aspen.

"We are huge fans of Jimmy's dry, cutting style and look forward to introducing him to an American audience," Comedy Central development head Lauren Corrao tells The Hollywood Reporter. "We could have spent months trying to cast someone else, but at the end of the day, they wouldn't have been as funny as the original. Jimmy was the obvious choice."

The premise of the game is simple: Four contestants are given the opportunity to win sums of money by answering general interest trivia questions. Things are complicated by a series of "Fear Factor"-style challenges that distract the players from their objectives.

The show will be produced by Talkback Thames, a unit of Fremantle North America.
